Gamers are set to get to grips with the recruitment challenges posed by Brexit in the latest edition of the video game Football Manager, due to be released next month.

The BBC reports the 2017 edition of the football management simulation game will present gamers with the prospect of managing the transfer of virtual football players in ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ versions of Brexit – affecting whether they are able to move freely between the UK and the European Union, while in a further scenario, work permits may be made available under special conditions.

Managers then receive an alert informing them of new circumstances.

Miles Jacobson, a director at UK games firm Sports Interactive, the game’s publisher, told the BBC the decision to include the feature was made immediately after the UK's vote on EU membership in June.
